Published: Wednesday September 3, 2008

An executive panel van - ideal for taking the family on cross country road trips - has arrived in Trinidad and Tobago. The H-1 van, which comes in three sizes, rolled into Neal and Massy Automotive Limited and has been attracting many vehicle lovers.

And in celebration of Hyundai's 40th anniversary, the company offered motorists to test drive the vehicles, including the H-1 vans.

The H-1 is offered in the three seat panel van, six seat panel van and the 12 passenger bus. But judging by the response at the test drive event, the six seater was the most popular vehicle.

Patrina Jaggernath, brand specialist, at Neal and Massy, said many motorists have been asking about the six seater panel van. "I think a lot of them are interested in it because it can be used both as a passenger van and for commercial use. We have been promoting the vans and people have been noticing it," she said.

Jaggernath said the H-1 vans are the only 2.5 automatic diesel vehicles in the country.

The six -seater vans are priced at $196,500.

The 12-seater passenger bus is priced at $213,000 has a 2.5 variable geometry turbo diesel engine, 5-speed auto transmission with sport mode and manual tilt steering. The H-1 the three seat panel van goes at $193,000.

All three vehicles can be viewed at Neal and Massy Automotive Limited in Port-of-Spain, San Fernando and Tobago.

The Hyundai test drive was held at the company's Cipero Street, San Fernando showroom last week Saturday. Customers were allowed to drive any of the Hyundai vehicles including the Santa Fe, Tucson, Sonata, Elantra, Accent, Getz, H100, HD65 and the new H-1.

Jaggernath said she was pleased with the response at the test drive. "The response in San Fernando was much greater than in Port-of-Spain. We had over 100 test drives and people have been showing interest in the H-1 vans," she said.

Ramnarace Babooram, who was at the event in San Fernando, said he was interested in buying the van for his family. "I have a big family. My wife and I have four children and eight grandchildren and when we go on drives we have to use about three or four cars, so when I have a bus like this I can take all of them together and drive in style. This is a real executive bus," he said.
